When we think of bedding materials, cotton and linen fabrics immediately spring to mind. In fact, the average homeowner may use the terms ‘linen sheets’ and ‘cotton bed sheets’ interchangeably because they seem so similar.

The plain or twill weave of flannel sheets also makes them soft and pliant — all the more reason to use them in colder weather.  

The greatest grade (and most costly) is 100 percent Egyptian cotton, distinguished by its extra-long staple fibers, resulting in sumptuously soft yet incredibly long-lasting sheets.
