Thread count refers to the number of threads (both horizontal and vertical) in one square inch of material. Generally speaking, the greater the number, the smoother, more durable the sheet. At one point thread count played a large part in what type of sheets sleepers bought, but it’s becoming more important to focus on the overall quality instead.

Thread count is the number of threads woven into a square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the more durable the fabric will be. In most cases, a higher thread count also means a softer fabric. However, the type of fiber and weave can also affect the quality of the sheets and should be considered when researching your options. When looking at the thread count, try to find sheets that are between 200-800.

While American bed sizes have remained fixed, there are no standard mattress depths. As a general rule, our fitted sheets have a gusset (AKA “pocket size” or “pocket depth”) that will fit mattresses up to 17” deep with enough room to tuck under the mattress. However, most of our purveyors accommodate custom orders for deeper or thinner sizes.
