Egyptian cotton comes from a different plant (Gossypium Barbadense) to regular cotton, which is why it has different and superior properties. Egyptian cotton has extra long fibres which produce thread or yarns that are thinner and smaller in diameter yet stronger than other cottons. This means that the threads can be woven into a luxurious durable fabric that no other cotton can match.

'The most comfortable fabric for bed sheets is a personal choice, but linen or cotton are great options if you like a cool, breathable finish,' says Nadia. 'Luxury lovers may however favor silk sheets for that touch of romantic opulence.'

Material

While it may seem that a two-ply bed sheet would be a better choice with the greater number of fibers it contains, this isn’t usually the case. Two-ply sheets are often rougher and less durable, as cheaper materials are typically used. Focus more of your efforts on finding the right material and weave, but do try to stick with one-ply sheets.
