Glass is probably the most overlooked material in history. It is essential to our lives, even more important than plastic. To me, a world without glass is even harder to imagine than a terraforming Mars (which most scientists agree is practically impossible). Without this miracle all around us, you wouldn't be able to use a touch-screen phone, turn on a glass light, see from a window, wear glasses, or enjoy a drink from a glass bottle on your bedside table. You won't be able to receive email, phone calls or access the Internet.

Artists have also embraced coloured float glass as a medium, using it to express complex ideas and emotions. The translucency and reflective qualities of the glass allow for innovative artistic expressions, where colors interact in ways that are both unpredictable and mesmerizing. Artists can layer different colors to create depth and dimension, or even incorporate light to enhance visual effects. Additionally, the durability of float glass makes it an ideal medium for outdoor installations, where it can withstand the elements while retaining its brilliance.

Glass can broaden our horizons, but not necessarily deepen our understanding.

Low-e glass comes in two main types hard coat and soft coat. Hard coat low-e glass is produced by depositing a thin layer of metal oxide onto the glass surface during the manufacturing process. This type of low-e glass is more durable and is typically used in commercial applications.
