The brake drum works together with brake shoes to create the friction necessary to slow down or stop the vehicle. Therefore, understanding the minimum brake drum thickness is essential for all vehicle owners and operators.


    Use a jack to lift the vehicle off the ground, and then secure it with jack stands. Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding. Once secure, remove the lug nuts entirely and take off the wheel to access the drum brake.
